CLUB OPERATIONS

The Kiwanis Club of Middletown is operated by the elected officers and eight board members.  This board of directors meets the second Wednesday of each month at DeStefano’s Olde Erie restaurant at 5:15 pm.

New York District Kiwanis

Our club is a member of the Hudson River West division of the New York District Kiwanis.  This division is comprised of nine separate Kiwanis clubs.  The members of the Hudson River West division are:

  • Callicoon Kiwanis Club
  • Chester Kiwanis Club
  • Middletown Kiwanis Club
  • Minisink Valley Kiwanis Club
  • Monticello Kiwanis Club
  • Roscoe Kiwanis Club
  • Shawangunk Valley Kiwanis Club
  • Washingtonville Kiwanis Club
  • Woodridge Kiwanis Club

Lieutenant Governor

The Hudson River West division elects one of its members to the position of Lt. Governor annually.  The lieutenant governor serves as a leader in the district as well, by expanding Kiwanis’ reach through the opening of new Kiwanis clubs and helping clubs improve the value of the club experience.

Leadership Education

Kiwanis provides many opportunities to further its members through continued leadership training.  New York District Kiwanis promotes two large events during the year, the mid-year conference in February and the district convention in August.  Both of these events take place in the Desmond Hotel in Albany New York and help bring the New York Kiwanians together to trade information, learn from one another and share their passion for this incredible organization that is Kiwanis.  The International convention is an annual gathering of worldwide club members in July.  This is truly a wonderful experience with each attendee bringing their unique leadership skills and fundraising projects to share with the group.   You can find all the dates for the upcoming Kiwanis conferences and conventions on our CALENDER.

Social Functions

The Kiwanis Club of Middletown routinely holds interclub events with fellow Hudson River West district members.  These dinner gatherings provide great opportunities to share ideas between clubs and promote growth in our club’s leaders.  While there many additional social events throughout the year, two of the more significant social events are the K Family Dinner and Governor’s Visit.  The K Family Dinner is held in honor of the Middletown Key Club and celebrates the current club’s officers and accomplishments, as well as recognizing the incoming elected officers.  The Governor’s visit is exactly what it sounds like.  The Hudson River West division’s clubs sponsor a dinner for the New York District Kiwanis Governor.  This event provides any opportunity to coordinate on statewide Kiwanis projects and well as share and foster new ideas amongst those in attendance.  You can find all the dates for the upcoming Kiwanis social events on our CALENDAR
